Olympic Water Polo - Water Polo History

Water Polo began in late 19th century England and Scotland, where water sports were a feature of county fairs and festivals. Water polo is now an established sport played throughout the world but it has a long history which began in England. The first documented evidence of the game was when the Bournemouth Premier Rowing Club carried out the 'first series' of aquatic handball matches' on 13 July 1876. Water polo is now popular in many countries around the world, notably Europe,United States, Canada and Australia. The present-day game involves teams of seven players (plus up to six substitutes), with a water polo ball similar in size to a soccer ball but constructed of waterproof nylon.
Water Polo is a popular sport played around the world, especially in Europe, United States, Canada and Australia. Water Polo debuted at Olympic Games in 1900. Water Polo will be played during 2012 Olympic from Sunday 29th July to Sunday 12th August at Water Polo Arena, Olympic Part.
